No the Leafs wouldn’t do this and Marner is very similar to Giroux so I don’t think it makes sense for the Flyers to do this either

Are you insane? I could see a package including TK but why on God’s green earth would the flyers trade a number one dman at best and a two dman at worst.

Marner is a very good player probably star level but no way is Toronto getting fleeced in that deal. I would argue it’s the other way around.

basically Toronto traded TK for Dermott and Bracco at that draft.

also, Provorov is like 30. Hes been lying bout his age for ever.

The only winner in this trade is Ek for all the extra clicks he's gonna get for people telling him how stupid it is.

There's always the threat of an offer sheet, but that's all it is -- fodder for interesting discussions. Mitch is a hometown kid living every hometown kid's dream of being the best player on that team.

For an offer sheet to happen, Mitch has to agree to it. I just don't see it happening, not the way this player is.

I think the more plausible salary relief scenarios would involve William Nylander. Sure his stock has fallen, but I'm certain there's some team out there who will take a flier (or is it Flyer?) on on him.

No one is taking Nylander right now. The Leafs best bet is to move Kadri for a player making less and move Marleau to a contender and sweeten the deal with a pick or prospect. I'm sure they'd rather part with a pick or prospect than have to lose/move Marner.

Provy would be your best defensemen as soon as he walked in the door. TK could score more goals that Marner albeit he’s not the playmaker Marner is.
Fans often overvalue their players for sure.
A GM who trades a top two dman and first line winger for another winger that is about the same goal scoring wise but a better playmaker should be fired immediately.

I love me some TK but he's just not in the same conversation as Marner.

For poops and giggles I offer Ghost and TK for Marner and Kadri. If that's not good enough so be it. As far as D men go they aren't getting Provorov or Sanhiem. Flyers can't afford to move them.

Now I bet we'd take Marleau off your hands to help your cap situation but it's going to cost you Kapanen.

Rielly would still be number one, his numbers speak for themselves. I'm sure Provorov is great, and I'd love it if he were a Leaf, but 7 goals and 26 pts in 82 games doesnt scream he's ready yet, even if he was a defensive stud. I'm sure he will be soon, but for now the Flyers would be selling low on him, which would be bad.
